Our Approach to Sustainability

Sustainability at NORGÄTE

NORGÄTE is shaped by a deep appreciation for exceptional materials, lasting quality, and transparency, guided by respect for people and natural resources. Our approach to sustainability is intentional and measured: we produce alpaca knitwear in small quantities, expand only when necessary, and prioritize pre-order systems to help reduce waste and overproduction. Guided by the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling, we work with materials carefully and repurpose leftover yarns and fabric remnants whenever possible, while honoring Peru’s textile knowledge and natural fiber tradition.

ETHICAL MANUFACTURING

Our alpaca knitwear is made in Peru through close collaboration with specialized makers and workshops. Each piece reflects skilled craftsmanship, fair working relationships, and respect for the knowledge behind responsible knitwear production.

SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES

We believe responsible growth should create value beyond the garment itself. Through long-term relationships, fair pricing, and ongoing collaboration in Peru, we support the people and communities whose work and textile knowledge are part of every collection.

CERTIFIED YARNS

We work with certified materials of trusted origin, selected for their quality, traceability, and responsible processing. Standards such as OEKO-TEX, AZO, and REACH reflect a careful approach to the fibers and yarns used in our alpaca knitwear.

Andean Ecosystem

Our connection to alpaca begins in the Peruvian Andes, where landscape, climate, and biodiversity shape the origin of this natural fiber. This awareness informs how we think about materials, design, and a more responsible approach to knitwear made in Peru.

Single Sourcing, Lower Impact

By managing our supply chain closely from origin to final delivery, we keep our process more direct, traceable, and easier to oversee. This shorter supply chain helps us reduce unnecessary intermediaries and make more responsible decisions across production and logistics.

To support this approach, NORGÄTE operates through a European distribution hub in Zagreb, Croatia. This allows garments to move from Peru to NORGÄTE EU and then directly to the customer, helping reduce repeated long-distance air shipments and supporting a lower-impact distribution model.
